AUDITIONS – ARCADIA

The Greenbelt Arts Center announces upcoming auditions for its production of Tom Stoppard’s Arcadia, directed by Randy Barth, to be held Wednesday, February 26 and Thursday, February 27th beginning at 6:30 pm

Tom Stoppard’s Arcadia has won awards and accolades ever since its first appearance in 1993.  It is set in an English country house, and takes place in both early 1800s and in 2000.  There scholars debate the relationships between past and present, order and disorder, and certainty and uncertainty.    The (often inaccurate) sleuthing of the modern researchers is contrasted with those who lived there before and provide both comedy and drama.  And indeed, there are scandals, both academic and personal, that keep the plot shifting.   It presents a rich combination of farcical elements, clever wordplay, and omens of a dark future.

Auditions will be held at the Greenbelt Arts Center  on Wednesday February 26 and Thursday the 27th beginning at 6:30 pm. Auditions will consist of readings from the script.  Audition scenes will be posted in advance on www.greenbeltartscenter.org soon to allow actors to be familiar with them, though no memorization is expected.

For information email the Director at Randy.Barth@comcast.net.

Rehearsals will be held three weekday evenings a week beginning March 9, leading up to nine performances beginning on May 15 and ending on May 31. Be prepared to detail all conflicts you may have throughout the rehearsal and performance schedule.

All roles are non union and unpaid
