Lanford Wilson’s The Hot L Baltimore introduces us to a memorable cast of characters residing in a crumbling Baltimore hotel, their lives as frayed as the lobby’s worn carpet. A young prostitute with an affinity for trains plies her trade along with two other memorable hookers. The other residents and drifters commune in the lobby of this fading hotel. This play feels especially relevant today, as America seems increasingly unwilling to address the needs of its most vulnerable citizens. With humor and poignancy, it captures the struggles of marginalized people clinging to hope in the face of inevitable loss.

“When an ensemble cast meshes seamlessly, hitting every cue, overtalking in the right places, quipping and bickering, interweaving a dozen diverse life stories, it’s uniquely satisfying.” – Steven Howell Wilson, TheatreBloom review

“Those very capable performances have, by the end, compelled our sympathy for a wide variety of characters…” Christopher Stark, The Greenbelt News Review, page 8
