Saturday August 21 from 5-7pm at Buddy Attick Park, Sunday August 29 at the Springhill Lake Recreation Center, and Sunday September 5 at the Greenbelt Arts Center as part of the Greenbelt Labor Day Festival. An American Daughter

The award-winning political drama by the author of The Heidi Chronicles centers around a successful medical doctor, selected by the President to be the first female Surgeon General.  When an indiscretion from her past is exposed by the liberal media, her campaign becomes embattled and she and her family are confronted with a crisis.

Godspell
Written by John-Michael Tebelak and Stephen Schwartz, Directed by Jeffrey Lesniak
One of the biggest Broadway successes of all time.  Based on the Gospel according to Saint Matthew, the parables of Jesus Christ come to life via a string of well-loved songs.  Drawing from various theatrical traditions: clowning, pantomime, charades, acrobatics, and vaudeville, Godspell is a unique reflection on the life of Jesus, with a message of kindness, tolerance, and love.   Tickets are $15, $12 seniors and students.

You Never Know

Recipe for a delightful musical: 1929, a ritzy Paris hotel, a glittering cast of characters and the best ingredient of all: Cole Porter!  Watch as the players sing, dance, hide, and deceive each other in their search for true love, because after all, You Never Know!
Auditions: Monday and Tuesday, November 15 & 16. Tickets are $15, $12 seniors and students.

The Joy Gods Return
Written, Produced, and Directed by Chris Cherry
In our annual youth musical, it's the year after the 9/11 attack, and a grieving actress and a jaded newscaster find hope and the chance for new happiness in New York City.  This original musical by Greenbelt's own Chris Cherry features sparkling 1930s-style showtunes in a show-within-a-show.  All performances are at 7pm; admission is $5.
Auditions are open only to students enrolled in the Greenbelt Recreation Department's Advanced Musical Production class.

Night of the Iguana
Written by Tennessee Williams, Directed by Randy Barth
Within the broken-down environs of a cheap Mexican resort hotel, Williams has created a mood of pervading loneliness and despair, as intrusive as the storm that stirs sudden lightening flashes and gushes through the tattered room.  The desolation, the emptiness are in his people: the tough, sex-starved widow who runs the hotel, the neurotic, defrocked minister, and the gentle maiden from New England.

Creation of the World and Other Business
Written by Arthur Miller, Produced by John Calhoon, Directed by Norma R. Ozur
Miller plays out one of his most persuasive and fascinating themes: a power struggle between God and his favorite angel, Lucifer, who lusts for equality with God in heaven.  As the first all-too-human family is caught between these two combatants, Miller uses comedy and drama to convince and persuade and to answer the question: Can two Gods reign in heaven?

June 3-25
Over the River and Through the Woods
Written by Joe DiPietro, Produced by Pamela Gill, Directed by Bob Hoffman
In this delightful comedy, Nick is a young, single Italian-American who lands the job of his dreams three thousand miles away from his beloved but annoying New Jersey grandparents. Faced with the loss of Nick to a position in faraway Seattle, the grandparents decide to take firm steps to keep him where they feel he belongs: close to them!
